i am currently looking for housing that is somewhat-to-very-close to the train so i can get into manhattan for work, and is still a neighborhood where i can walk home late at night - i’m a masculine-presenting queer kid so i tend to attract a lil attention wherever i go. i’ve had bad situations because of my appearance, and i really need to make sure wherever i live is safe for super-queer-looking folk like myself.

i’m a very chill personality who can get along with pretty much anyone, in search of people who are easy to live with and chill about my lifestyle. i don’t smoke (i do when drunk but i’m trying really hard to kill that habit), i’m 420 friendly but my health prevents me from smoking more than a few times a year, i love going out but i’m not a huge partier, i would love a place where a pitbull puppy is welcome but if that’s not going to work that’s okay too. i am making a decent salary so i will be able to reliably cover my expenses but i definitely can’t afford more than $1500 a month right now.

i have a girlfriend who lives in morningside heights who is very present in my life (soon to be my fiancée but shh it’s a secret) so she will probably be around a lot, and pretty much all of my friends are also awesome queers so any visitors i have will likely fit that profile. i do have ptsd but i’m getting better and better - i still need to be in a safe space where i won’t be triggered and the people around me have some knowledge or experience with that kind of situation. i’m queer-identified when it comes to gender stuff, and i use they/she pronouns. if you’re interested in my ideology and my experiences, then you can definitely check out my tumblr because i tend to get open on here. if you’re not cool with non-binary folks then i am probably not the roomie for you…

is anyone looking for roommates/neighbors or has an idea of a place for lil old me? i need a place asap starting may 16 and i’m worried about having to choose an unsafe situation because of the short turnover and my lack of funds…signal boost me please!

do it if you can!! i can vouch for how great this person is, after all if she were staying in philly we’d be roommates and i have greeeeat taste in roommates. plus i know at least a couple of y’all are looking for something in new york. :)

Signal boosting!

Signal boosting (and looking at you, Apartment Jones!!!!)!

If Apartment Jones doesn’t work out, Astoria’s a fine neighborhood.  (We’re not looking for roomies, but people in Astoria always are.)

Unfortunately, Jones is pushing max capacity, so we don’t really have the room to take in another.

Signal boosting and best of luck!

Who wants some carnival-rock?? Listen to “Feria Cinerum” by the Rose West!

Click through and listen to The Rose West’s debut single (and look at the pretty album art I made for them)!! I’ve been talking about these guys on and off for some time now. Well, now you get to actually listen to them! Fans of bands like Coheed and Cambria, the Dear Hunter, and 3 will very likely enjoy this.
And for people in/who can get to the NYC area, they have a regular show at The Way Station, every last Sunday of the month.

It was a long day!

Got up early to head back to the old apartment to pack more stuff into the car. Then in Midtown for work. Then back up to the old apartment again to clean, pack, and take what I can carry on the subway. Lots of walking in between. Finally got home. Chill First Floor Smoker Dude said something on the steps, but I thought he was talking to whomever was sitting with him. When he asked if I’m ignoring him, I burst in to apologies and say hello and “No, I wasn’t ignoring you, just zoning out. It’s been a long day, haha.” He kinda reminds me of an old Oneonta RA buddy of mine…

And yay! E is home! I got back about an hour ago, and there was no one else here. That is very weird when it is an apartment of six people. o_o

My name is Kelly Schomburg, I’m the girl with the red hair in these pictures. I was protesting at the Occupy Wall Street march yesterday when I and several other women were sprayed with mace and subsequently arrested. Many have already seen the video, which has been spreading like wildfire over twitter, Facebook, tumblr, and other video feeds, along with hundreds of other photos and videos. This is my recount of what happened.

From the New York Daily News:

Scores of protesters were arrested in Manhattan Saturday as a march against social inequality turned violent.
Hundreds of people carrying banners and chanting “shame, shame” walked between Zuccotti Park, near Wall St., and Union Square calling for changes to a financial system they say unjustly benefits the rich and harms the poor.
At least 80 people were carted away in police vehicles and up to five were hit with pepper spray near 12th St. and Fifth Ave., where tensions became especially high, police and organizers said.
The National Lawyer’s Guild, which is providing legal assistance to the protesters, put the number of arrests at 100.
Witnesses said they saw three stunned women collapse on the ground screaming after they were sprayed in the face.
A video posted on YouTube and NYDailyNews.com shows uniformed officers had corralled the women using orange nets when two supervisors made a beeline for the women, and at least one suddenly sprayed the women before turning and quickly walking away.
Footage of other police altercations also circulated online, but it was unclear what caused the dramatic mood shift in an otherwise peaceful demonstration.
“I saw a girl get slammed on the ground. I turned around and started screaming,” said Chelsea Elliott, 25, from Greenpoint, Brooklyn, who said she was sprayed. “I turned around and a cop was coming … we were on the sidewalk and we weren’t doing anything illegal.”
Police said 80 protesters were arrested or ticketed at multiple locations for disorderly conduct, blocking traffic and failure to obey a lawful order but the number could rise.

If the NYPD’s excuse for this disgusting behavior — which should make decent police officers anywhere cringe with shame — is that the protestors didn’t have a permit, then fuck that.  Of course, Mayor Bloomberg is probably off in Bermuda on his usual weekend getaway, so neither he nor his police commissioner, Raymond Kelly, won’t have to be held accountable for these wanton acts of police brutality until Monday.  At least.
For shame.

I generally make it a point to avoid Times Square, but I can make an exception for this. So excited~ And new Boardwalk Empire—yay!
